I'm sure you've heard about meditation, and how it's so beneficial for your health. You may have even tried a few times to meditate, but never found the time or patience needed to stick with it. Well I'm here to tell you that it is worth sticking with! Meditation has been proven many times over to help reduce stress, anxiety, blood pressure and more. It also can help you improve sleep quality and attention span - two things most people could use a little more of in their lives! Most importantly though, meditation helps us see what most people miss because they are too caught up in their own thoughts: the world around them. So don't let all these benefits fly by without giving meditation a shot!
Meditation clears the mind, allows us to witness with neutrality and stay unattached to outcomes. When we can stay in the present moment without being swept away by what could happen, or dwelling on what has happened, our minds are clearer and more focused. It's hard to be emotionally healthy when you're experiencing a lot of stress - after all it is one of the main contributors to mental health problems such as anxiety and depression! But meditation helps reduce the stress hormones we are constantly sending to our brains. It also helps us relax and de-stress, which leads to a better ability to focus on what's going on in front of us - rather than what might be happening around the corner or even outside of our line of sight!
The example I used in my video demonstrates that ability. Meditation helped me stay in the moment and that saved my dogs life. I didn't think about the outcome, or become so emotional I could not act, I thought only of what I could do in the moment. It may sound too good to be true that one activity can help with so many things, but it's true - and you can do this anywhere!

Another benefit is that mediation helps prepare us for a practice that allows us to measure the invisible. In my next post, I'm going to show you a way to do just that.
